Art attracts

The probably oldest building of Monchique was turned into a beautiful art gallery, the Galeria Santo António. Now ARTE ALGARVE moves in to run it.

The gallery wants to stimulate the cultural live of Monchique, the second most visited place in the Algarve. Each month there will be a new exhibition for paintings, photography, sculptures, ceramics and others. But there will also be shows with special themes like “Fernando Pessoa“. The nearly 100 artists organized in ARTE ALGARVE are asked to provide their contributions to these shows.

The openings are always scheduled for the second Friday of each month. Live music, snacks and drinks will help to turn each event into a happy get together for local people and the guests from all parts of the Algarve and Portugal.  

The gallery will be open during the week from 12 am till 4 pm.

The first exhibition starts on Friday 12th of February with paintings by Lisbon artist Xico Fran and the German sculpture Cony Welcker.

February: Paintings by Xico Fran and sculptures by Cony Welcker

March: Paintings by Manuela Caneco and sculptures by Udo Ulrich

April: Thematic exhibition „Fernando Pessoa – who is he?“
