With the Galeria Santo António, Monchique got a new and very beautiful attraction. Built as a hermitage before 1755, it is one of the oldest buildings in the Serra de Monchique. Now the new maior Rui André of the Algarve`s famous Serra-town agreed on cooperating with Arte Divina Associacao Cultural which is also responsible for the international Art Fair ARTE ALGARVE to run the gallery.

It opened on Friday 12th of February with the vernissage for the exhibition of Lisbon artist Xico Fran und the German sculptor Cony Welcker. Xico Fran shows his latest work, a series of paintings depicting Jazz musicians, while Cony Welcker shows her newest creations of strange animals.

The exhibtion is on till March 11th, followed by an exhibition with paintings by Manuela Caneco and sculptors by Udo Ulrich. The vernissage takes place on March 12th, 18h00. Everybody is invited! The entrance is free.
